coffeebreak3

Yay – it’s the first Coffee Break of 2015! I’m writing this from Tinker Tuesday, which is a little weekly gathering of my local friends being productive and social at the same time. There’s generally a good mix of writing, knitting, photo editing, drawing, etc. Being more social this winter is one of my goals. I tend to be a bit of a hermit during the cold months.

Here are a few links to things I’ve read & enjoyed recently.

How To Ruin Your Life (Without Even Noticing That You Are)

“I have come to believe that being kind — especially in the midst of challenging, distressing circumstances — is the highest form of intelligence.” YES YES YES. – this post from Alexandra Franzen

Is Depression an Allergic Reaction? – Recent findings on the correlation between depression and inflammation. I’m ever-intrigued by the mind-body connection.

The difference between successful people and really successful people

7 things that happened when I quit my fancy internet life and went to work at a coffee shop is a story about a coach who stepped away from her online business and got a “regular” job to pay the bills while she cleared her head. Fascinating.

The Hipster Business Name Generator made the rounds awhile ago – it delights me so. (Confession: I totally registered one of the domains it suggested.)

I really, really, really want to eat this BBQ brussels sprout pizza. Yummm.

I’ve been enjoying hanging out in the #fireworkpeople Facebook group. I’ve never participated in a (any!) Twitter chat, but that’s where the #fireworkpeople started and they’re worth checking out, if that’s your thing.

Designers! Marie is offering a scholarship to Digital Strategy School! I’ve been in the beta since last summer and I can’t recommend it enough. Deadline to apply is THIS FRIDAY (1/09) so don’t hesitate!

That’s it for now! I hope the first full week of 2015 is off to a great start!

PS. Oh, hey – you should follow me on Instagram – that’s my social media true love at the moment.

You should know: if I really love a product or service I've personally used, I may reference it using an affiliate link. This means that if you purchase through my link, I get a small portion of the sales (at no cost to you). I'm not getting rich off these recs, but it might cover a cup of coffee on occasion. Thank you.
